With a team of professionally trained court reporters and Certified Legal Video Specialists, Sargent’s delivers consistent, accurate, and timely transcripts in a wide range of formats.
Founded in 1996, Sargent’s Transcription Service offers extensive experience in the transcription of legal, governmental, and administrative proceedings. Utilizing advanced technologies and rigorous quality control processes, Sargent’s is equipped to accommodate all audio and video formats, while maintaining the high-quality transcripts the industry requires.
Established in 1980, Sargent’s Personnel Agency provides staffing and personnel solutions to businesses in Pennsylvania. Through streamlined recruiting, screening, and placement services, Sargent’s reduces administrative burdens for its clients while delivering access to highly qualified candidates.

The Sargent’s Group was founded in 1980 by Sara “Sally” Sargent. What began as one woman’s vision from the basement of her home has grown into The Sargent’s Group, now made up of Sargent’s Court Reporting, Sargent’s Personnel Agency, and Sargent’s Transcription Service, with 21 offices across four states. Sally, a court reporter by profession, built The Sargent’s Group on a foundation of hard work, integrity, and client satisfaction.
Sally has devoted decades to community service and development by serving on numerous boards and organizations. She is currently serving on the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies and Greater Johnstown Regional Partnership. She previously held positions on the Board of Directors of AmeriServ Financial, Chairwoman of Conemaugh Health Initiatives, and Board Member of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. She is a founding member of both the Cambria County Community College Board of Trustees and its Foundation Board of Directors, helping shape educational opportunities for future generations. As a Board Member, Sally gave her time and support to many local organizations such as Saint Francis College, Johnstown Area Regional Industries, Cambria County Library System, Central Business District Coalition, Women’s Help Center, YWCA of Cambria County, and United Way of Greater Johnstown. Community dedication is not just something she supports, it is something she truly believes in.
Professionally, Sally is an active member of the Pennsylvania Court Reporters Association (PCRA) and the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA). Her entrepreneurial leadership has earned widespread recognition, including honors such as Western Pennsylvania/Tri-State Area Female Entrepreneur of the Year in a Woman-Owned Business by Ernst & Young, Business Person of the Year for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by the U.S. Small Business Administration, and inclusion among Pennsylvania’s Top 50 Women in Business. She has also been honored many times by Pennsylvania Business Central for her impact as a leader and CEO. In recognition of her professional accomplishments and philanthropic endeavors, Sally was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Saint Francis College.
Sally is dedicated to improving the Johnstown community, including her support for the Johnstown Police Department through the donation of a K9 unit and her patronage for The Miracle League at Roxbury Park. Sally proudly sponsors the naming rights for the historic Point Stadium, ensuring its continued presence and relevance for future generations, a project that holds personal significance and represents her deep commitment to the city’s heritage.
Michael George Sargent, CVR, earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He continued his professional training at the International Realtime Court Reporting Institute, where he earned his certification as a Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) through the National Verbatim Reporters Association (NVRA).
Michael’s connection to The Sargent’s Group began early. he grew up around the company, spending his free time in the office learning day-to-day operations. After graduating from college, he joined Sargent’s as a full-time court reporter and has been with the company ever since. During that time, he has taken thousands of depositions himself, gaining firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the profession and what is required to be a successful court reporter.
Working closely with Sally on a daily basis, Michael continues to expand his already extensive knowledge of the company in preparation to lead The Sargent’s Group in the future. His passion for history and facts naturally led him to a career in court reporting, where accuracy, detail, and integrity are essential.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and the family Weimaraner. Michael is an enthusiastic traveler with a strong interest in exploring new cultures, cuisines, and experiences. Looking ahead, his vision for the company centers on continued expansion while maintaining the longstanding belief that every client matters.
